Flu shot clinic
The Mahoning County District Board of Health, 50 Westchester Drive, is offering a flu shot clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone over 6 months should get an influenza vaccine.
No appointment is necessary.
Most private insurances are accepted, and flu shots are free with most insurances.
Participants are reminded to bring your insurance cards, driver’s license, Medicare and Medicaid cards so the cost of the vaccine can be billed.
The available flu vaccines and their costs are: Quadrivalant (4 flu virus strains), $40; quadrivalant (4 flu virus strains), short-needle intra-dermal, $40; high-dose trivalent (3 flu virus strains) for those 65 and older, $55.
Winter Crisis Program
The Winter Crisis Program of the Trumbull Community Action Program, 1230 Palmyra Road S.W., which helps eligible households avoid utility disconnection, restore disconnected service, establish new service and purchase fuel oil, propane gas, coal and wood, is available through March 31.
Applicants can walk in all day on Monday; and Tuesday through Friday, walk-in customers who arrive between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. will be seen each day before noon. Appointments for weekday afternoons can be scheduled by calling 866-747-1041. Callers must wait to receive a confirmation number to secure the appointment.
Applicants who cannot apply at the TCAP Warren office can apply, by appointment only, at one of four satellite sites from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Hubbard, Niles, Newton Falls and Warren. For information on locations and times, call TCAP at 330-393-2507, ext. 225.
