The Happy Together Tour was so well-received at last year’s Canfield Fair, that it was brought back for a second helping of oldies.
The tour, hosted by The Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie, will play the fair’s grandstand Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $40 and can be purchased at the box office or in advance at canfieldfair.com.
Happy Together brings together six artists who were in their heyday in the ’60s and ’70s with a total of 59 Billboard hits among them. In addition to the Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie, the tour – now in its seventh year – includes Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night; Mark Lindsay, formerly of Paul Revere and the Raiders; Gary Puckett & The Union Gap; the Cowsills; and the Spencer Davis Group Starring Spencer Davis.
The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie are the headliners and hosts, and enliven the show with their comic antics. Led by vocalists Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, known as Flo & Eddie, The Turtles have sold more than 40 million records worldwide. Their hits include: “Happy Together” “She’d Rather Be With Me,” “Elenore” “ It Ain’t Me Babe” and “You Showed Me.”
Negron will bring Three Dog Night’s biggest hits to the stage, including “Joy To The World,” “Mama Told Me Not To Come,” “Shambala,” “One” and “Easy To Be Hard.”
Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders, made his mark with “Kicks,’” “Hungry,” “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone,” “Steppin’ Out,” “Good Thing” “Indian Reservation,” “Arizona” and others.
The Cowsills were the surprise hit of last year’s tour, wowing crowds with their effervescent pop. Bob, Paul and Susan Cowsill are a family singing group and the original inspiration for television’s “The Partridge Family.” They are best known for songs “The Rain, The Park and Other Things,” “Hair,” “Indian Lake” and “Love American Style.”
Concert-goers will hear Puckett’s big voice on hits like “Young Girl,” “Over You” and “Woman Woman.”
The Spencer Davis Group Starring Spencer Davis is making its first appearance on the Happy Together Tour this year. A stalwart of the British Invasion, The Spencer Davis Group had a string of hits in the 1960s that include “Gimme Some Lovin,’” “I’m A Man” and “Keep On Runnin.”
