ASSOCIATIONS

Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will have its Sept. 13 meeting at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Networking will be at 6 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6:30. The menu comprises shells with alfredo sauce, baked ham, baked whitefish, pirogis, green beans with garlic, tossed salad, gelatin, applesauce, coffee or tea and pretzel salad for dessert. The speaker will be Velina Jo Taylor, superintendent of Brookfield Local Schools.

ALLIANCES

Ohio Cultural Alliance will have its next joint meeting with Mahoning Valley Association of Churches at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road (Route 62). The Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II will address the Local Black Baptist Church. Cultural enrichment will be organ music provided by Dr. Ronald Gould, YSU professor emeritus. Take toiletry items for the Salvation Army. Memberships, which run from March to December, are $25 per person. The cost of each meeting is $15 for paid members and $20 for nonmembers. CLUBS

Warren Women’s Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, invites all women to attend its Sept. 12 luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE, Warren. Paula Abbott from Terrell, Texas, will tell her story, “Freedom Behind Closed Doors.” She is the author of two books that have been approved by Stonecroft Ministries. Heather Hannan, owner and manager of the Clothes Mentor, Howland, will discuss a new concept in resale of women’s clothing. Dona Hewitt will be the vocalist. Stonecroft Ministries is a nondenominational organization that reaches out to all women across the country and around the world. Luncheons are held the second Monday of each month.

GUILDS

Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild has scheduled the following neighborhood group meeting: 10 a.m. Thursday, Niles Silver Thimbles will meet at Shepherd of the Valley Assisted Living, 1500 McKinley. Shirley will demonstrate a pot holder. For information call Effie at 330-637-1429.

Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will present “A Country Fair” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. It will feature Marty Campana, auctioneer, and guest speaker Paula Abbott of Terrell, Texas, who will address “Freedom Behind Closed Doors.” The cost is $13.50 and includes lunch.
