Honoring volunteers

The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley is celebrating Ministry Volunteers with an open house for all volunteers, past and present, from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Rescue Mission’s resident building, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

No reservations are required, and free parking is available in the lot across from the Mission. Current and past volunteers are invited to visit with staff members, take part in building tours, attend a short program and have a barbecue meal.

For information, call Brad Weber, mission volunteer coordinator, at 330-744-5486.

Community cleanup

Lovers Lane Northwest from Parkman Road Northwest to West Market Street Southwest in Warren will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for an Earth Day community cleanup.

Road closing

Lodge Road under state Route 11 in Fairfield Township will be closed for five days beginning Monday as part of a $2.8 million project to replace two sets of bridges, the Ohio Department of Transportation said.

Lodge Road will be closed again in mid-May for 25 days, with a 30-day closure expected in July or August. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on state Route 11, with crossovers during construction. A.P. O’Horo Co. of Youngstown will finish the work in mid-October.

Book collection

The Struthers Middle School Book Club will donate more than 1,300 books from a book drive to Struthers Middle School and Struthers Elementary School libraries.
