Major road closings start Monday

Several major Mahoning Valley road closings will begin Monday, and others will begin later this month, the Ohio Department of Transportation has announced.

Beginning Monday, state Route 46 between New and Kirk roads in Austintown will be closed through Wednesday for a culvert replacement. The detour will be state Route 11 to U.S. Route 224.

Liberty Street over state Route 11 in Liberty will be closed through mid-July for a bridge replacement beginning Monday. The detour will be state Route 193 to state Route 304 to U.S. Route 422.

Also beginning Monday, in Bristol and Champion townships, state Route 45 between state routes 88 and 305 will be closed through April 22 for three culvert replacements. The detour will be over state routes 305, 534 and 88.

Beginning Friday, Vestal Road on Youngstown’s West Side over Interstate 680 will be closed through mid-October for a bridge replacement. The detour will be over Hazelwood, Cherry Hill and North Belle Vista avenues to Salt Springs Road. This work is part of a $2.5 million project to replace the Vestal Road bridge over Interstate 680.

Beginning April 18, state Route 14 between Cunningham and Egypt roads in Green Township near Salem will be closed through April 22, for a culvert replacement. The detour will be U.S. Route 62 to state Route 14 to U.S. Route 62 to state routes 165 and 46.

Beginning April 18, West Market Street in Warren Township over state routes 5 and 82 will be closed through mid-October for a bridge replacement.

The detour for eastbound traffic will be Park Road to Diehl Road to Burnett Street to Leavitt Road.

For westbound traffic, it will be state Route 5 eastbound to U.S. Route 422 to state Route 5 westbound.

This work is part of a $4.3 million project to replace three bridges over state Route 5, one on Eagle Creek Road, one on North Leavitt Road and one on Market Street. The project is scheduled to be finished in October.
