YOUNGSTOWN

A man who has three previous felony domestic-violence convictions was taken into custody Saturday morning on a fourth felony domestic-violence charge.

Auma Campbell, 36, of Ford Avenue, is in the Mahoning County jail on $40,000 bond after his arraignment before Judge Robert Milich.

Reports said officers were called to Ford’s home about 2:35 a.m. Saturday on a report of a man and woman arguing. When they arrived, no one would answer the door, but they could hear voices inside.

Police then went to a side door where they heard a man and a woman fighting, and a person who stays in the home then opened the door for police.

Police spoke to a woman inside who said she was watching television with Campbell, who was drinking, when he punched her in the face several times, choked her and scratched her. The woman told police she is nine months pregnant, reports said.

Reports said the woman had a knot on her forehead and other visible injuries. Campbell was taken into custody and booked into the jail.

Assistant City Prosecutor Kathy Thompson told Judge Milich that Campbell has previous felony domestic-violence convictions in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
