Bands at Baugh series to return

Staff report

The Bands at the Baugh summer concert series will return this summer, with four events planned on the third Thursday of each month.

The after-work parties will begin at 6 p.m. in the garden on the south side of Stambaugh Auditorium.

Sponsored by Stambaugh Pillars, the series – now in its fourth year – is a fundraiser for the auditorium.

Admission is $10 at the door.

Tickets can also be purchased in advance at and at the venue box office, 1000 Fifth Ave., and by phone at 330-259-0555.

Included in the ticket price is a voucher for one drink at the cash bar. Appetizers also will be available for purchase.

Here is the schedule:

June 18: Steve Dorsey, an entertainer known for his renditions of Roy Orbison and Gene Pitney songs.

July 16: Howard and the Point Five Band, an R&B and jazz ensemble that has been a mainstay in the Valley for years.

Aug. 20: The Vindys, a stylish Youngstown-based band fronted by singer Jackie Popovec, performing pop-rock songs and original compositions.

Sept. 17: Davis & McKay, an acoustic rock duo whose repertoire spans more than four decades of music.

Bands at the Baugh is partially sponsored by University Electric, Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley and TR Party Center.

Stambaugh Pillars hosts fundraising events throughout the year to benefit Stambaugh Auditorium. The organization’s other events include:

Holiday Fashion Show: The 18th annual event will take place Nov. 4 in the Grand Ballroom. A plated lunch is served before the show.

The 2014 event featured fashions from Dillard’s and Lingenfelter Brill and local television news celebrities.

Opera Dinner: Hosted in the Grand Ballroom before Opera Western Reserve’s annual performance, it includes a buffet dinner and cash bar. This year’s opera, “The Elixir of Love,” will be presented Nov. 13.
