Grilling tips will be featured


Sous Chef Brian Hill from Salem Hills Golf and Country Club will demonstrate techniques needed to become a top griller at 6 p.m. May 27 at Pavilion 1 in Centennial Park, off East State Street.

Several different types of food including meats and vegetables will be available to sample.

This event is open to the public and is free. Registration is needed through the library’s website at

“Go Wild in the Park” is a year-long series of programs and activities provided through a partnership of Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Salem Public Library. For information and assistance with registration, call the library at 330-332-0042.

American Legion will sponsor students


American Legion Auxiliary Unit 737 Lake Post will sponsor two juniors from Jackson-Milton High School and two juniors from Western Reserve High School to attend the 69th annual session of Buckeye Girls State at the University of Mount Union.

They will be among 900 girls participating in the session, which begins June 14 and ends June 20. The program is a fast-paced mock government at the state, county and city levels, providing the students the opportunity to participate in a democratic form of government.

Local delegates are Adriana Italiano, Courtney Macphee, Lauren Falasca and Kalina Wisniewski.

Library to host Fix It Wizard


The Fix It Wizard, Fred Conser, and his wife, Dorothy, will present a class on a basic toolbox from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 27 at Salem Public Library’s Quaker Room at 821 E. State St.
