OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, 11 W. Federal St., will celebrate its four-year anniversary in downtown May 16 and 17.

Visitors will receive $4 off general admission. The event is free with admission.

TEDx women event features 2 sessions

YOUNGSTOWN

The TEDxYoungstownWomen event will take place at The Fifth Floor restaurant, 201 E. Commerce St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 29. Attendees will have lunch and watch one session of the international TEDWomen conference. There also will be a second session of the event from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the same location. Attendees can come for one or both sessions. Tickets are $15 for the event. Reserve tickets through eventbrite.com.

Chamber schedules a spring mixer

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a spring mixer for chamber members at the DeBartolo Suite of the Youngstown State University Stadium, 577 Fifth Ave., at 5:30 p.m. May 21.

The mixer will feature Youngstown’s new professional indoor soccer league, the Youngstown Nighthawks.

Food and drinks will be provided. The mixer is $25 for chamber members. Those interested should call 330-744-2131, ext. 12, by May 18.

America Makes announces two award recipients

YOUNGSTOWN

America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, on Wednesday announced two award recipients of a directed project opportunity on Conformal Heat Exchangers (HEXs) funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).

America Makes will award $2.7 million in AFRL Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Manufacturing and Industrial Base Technology Division funding toward these projects with $1.4 million in matching-cost share from the awarded projects teams for total funding worth $4.1 million.

The objective of this directed-project opportunity is to conduct applied research projects to demonstrate the use of laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing processes.

The award recipients are Honeywell Aerospace and United Technologies Research Center.

Chamber plans member luncheon

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a luncheon for chamber members at Giorgio’s Restaurant, 1231 Youngstown-Warren Road, at 11:15 a.m. May 21.

The luncheon is an opportunity for networking and connecting with other businesses.
