Jazz ensembles in free concert


The Dana School of Music’s Jazz Ensembles 1 and 2, directed by Alton Merrell and Kent Engelhardt, will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Kilcawley Center’s Hub on the Youngstown State University campus.

The free concert will include music by Maria Schneider, Billy Strayhorn, Horace Silver, Gordan Goodwin, Bob Mintzer, Shawn Purcell and others.

Model railroad spring flea market


The Youngstown Model Railroad Association will host its spring flea market March 8 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at McMenamy’s, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road.

The event will feature railroad-related items, including 180 dealer tables of merchandise and equipment for all model railroad scales and interests. Typical of the offerings will be HO, Lionel, train parts, railroad books, video CDs, photographs and memorabilia.

There will be an operating three rail “O” gauge layout on display, courtesy of the Western Reserve Modular Railroad Club.

Michael Jackson tribute show


KJackson Productions will present “Blaze MJ Live,” a live Michael Jackson tribute show, on March 27 at Club Amazing, 21 W. Hylda St., from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 ($5 if dressed like Michael Jackson).
