Nicolette K. Bonamase, of Aurora, formerly of Canfield, has graduated from Northeast Ohio Medical University with a doctor of pharmacy degree.
She graduated from Aurora High School in 2008 and completed her undergraduate studies at Kent State University. While studying for her pharmacy degree, she had memberships in the American Pharmacists Association and also in the Student National Pharmaceutical Association. Dr. Bonamase will work for Giant Eagle in the Cleveland area.
He parents are Michele Bonamase of Macedonia and Scott Bonamase of Streetsboro; grandparents are Barbara Orenic of Boardman, Mike Orenic of Struthers and Ed and Shirley Bonamase of Naples, Fla.; and great-grandparents are John and Lucille Hrinak of Struthers.
Benedict L. Belcik Jr., son of Ben and Lisa (Cardiero) Belcik, has earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine from Lake Erie College of Medicine.
Dr. Belcik, who graduated in May, has begun his internship at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. In July 2016, he will begin his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Case Western Reserve University/Metro Health in Cleveland.
Dr. Belcik also plans to pursue a pediatric rehabilitation fellowship. He will care for children and adults with spinal-cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation and sports injuries in the Youngstown area.
He is a 2006 graduate of Girard High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Youngstown State University in 2011.
Joy Olivia Jakubek, daughter of Dr. John and Paula Jakubek of Canfield, graduated magna cum laude with a doctor of pharmacy degree from the Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy. She is a 2009 graduate of Canfield High School.
Her studies included a special concentration in acute care, and she will be entering a one-year residency at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh in July.
Alana Christine Brooks, daughter of Pamela Brooks of Boardman and Christopher Brooks of Canfield, graduated from Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine with her doctor of veterinary medicine degree.
Dr. Brooks is a 2004 graduate of Canfield High School, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in 2008 and bachelor of science degree in 2011, both with summa cum laude honors, from OSU.
She is the granddaughter of Donald Brooks and the late Dorothy Brooks, and Jane Boano and the late Jack Boano Jr., all of Poland. She is engaged to Dr. Michael Kenyhercz of Knoxville, Tenn., and formerly of Canfield.
Degree in medicine
Kara M. Joseph has received her doctor of medicine degree from Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton.
While in medical school, Dr. Joseph was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and served as chapter secretary.
She will begin a residency in anesthesiology at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago after completing her intern year at Kettering Medical Center in Dayton. She graduated magna cum laude from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind., in 2011, with a degree in chemistry, and is a 2007 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. She is the daughter of Bruce and Karen Joseph of Columbiana.
Earned medicine degree
Michael Forte has received his doctor of medicine degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Dr. Forte, of Hubbard, is a 2009 graduate of Ursuline High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in integrated life science, magna cum laude, from Kent State University in 2011. He is the son of Alex and Bridget Forte of Hubbard.
He will begin his internal medicine residency at the University of West Virginia’s Ruby Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., in July.
