Freedom Warrior golf outing will aid veterans

Staff report

The second annual Freedom Warrior Golf Outing will take place July 17 at Avalon Golf and Country Club golf courses, including Avalon Lakes, in Warren; Avalon at Squaw Creek, in Vienna; and Avalon at Buhl, in Sharon, Pa.

Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council is teaming up with Avalon Golf and Country Club to raise funds for local disabled and disadvantaged veterans.

The four-person scramble will begin at 11 a.m. and includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and an adults-only evening gala at Squaw Creek with hors d’oeuvres, music, a silent auction and fireworks.

Registration is $250 per golfer or $1,000 for a team with the course assigned based on a first-come first-served basis. Golfing includes the evening event ticket. Tickets for the evening event only are $75.

Opportunities are available for sponsorships and donations; both can be done online. Forms are available at www.supportfreedomwarrior.com.

Team sign-ups, tickets, sponsorships or money donations also can be mailed to YARBCC Charitable Fund, c/o Jerry Lyda, P.O. Box 75, North Lima, OH 44452.

For information or to donate auction items call Lisa Dickson at 330-509-9603. Donations are tax deductible.

Ron Klingle, owner of Avalon Golf and Country Club, has donated the courses and his staff so that registration fees will be used to provide assistance to veterans in Mahoning, Trumbull and Mercer counties.
