A Boardman High School student was arrested after an investigation revealed that he had nude photographs on his cellphone of a 15-year-old female that he allegedly posted to a social media website.
The 16-year-old suspect was arrested Monday at the high school, 7777 Glenwood Ave., on a felony charge of pandering obscenity involving a minor and a misdemeanor charge of menacing.
Township police first began investigating the situation Dec. 24 when the girl reported it.
At the time, she told police that the suspect, her ex-boyfriend, persistently attempted to contact her after she ended the relationship Dec. 20 and then threatened to post nude photographs of her if she did not talk to him. She said she blocked his phone number, but that he continued to contact her using a phone app.
He reportedly told the girl that he already had posted one nude photograph of her to a Facebook account that was not in his name, and then threatened to post more on his account if she did not get back together with him.
The girl told police that several of her friends saw the photo the suspect posted from an alternate Facebook account. She also claims that the photographs he has on his phone were taken without her consent.
When police went to the high school Monday, they searched the suspect’s phone and found one partially nude and one completely nude photograph of the girl on the device. It also appeared that the suspect had sent at least one of the pictures to contacts in his phone, police said.
He was arrested and booked at the high school, and then released to the custody of his mother.
The case was referred to the Mahoning County Juvenile Court. A court date has not yet been set.
