Junior League will host Derby party
The Junior League of Youngstown will host its annual Kentucky Derby Party at 5:30 p.m. May 2 at the Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens.
It will feature a Southernthemed menu and dancing.
There also will be a best hat contest, horse betting and auctions for items including a Kindle Fire, Caribbean vacations, an Ohio State chair donated by Gasser Chair Co., and jewelry donated by Ivory & Birch.
Tickets are $60 each. Tables of eight can be reserved. To purchase tickets call the league office at 330-743-3200 or visit www.jlyoungstown.org. Reservations are due today.
The public is invited.
Proceeds will benefit the projects supported by the Junior League of Youngstown.
Accounting society schedules seminar
Mahoning Valley Accounting Society is presenting a program Tuesday on Ohio Bureau Of Workers Compensation Updates and Prospective Billing Transition at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St.
The topic is CPE: 1.5 Hours tax. Registration begins at 5:45 p.m., and the seminar, at 6.
Christine Williams, BWC regional business consultant, will be the speaker.
The fee of $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers includes dinner.

Audubon Society will host cleaning session
The Audubon Society of Mahoning Valley will host a birdfeeder cleaning from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wildbirds Unlimited, 90 Boardman-Canfield Road.
The event benefits the birds by keeping them healthier, is less work for the owner and helps the Audubon Society provide more nature education.
For $3 each feeder will be cleaned and sanitized while you wait.
YMTA will host honors recital
The Youngstown Music Teachers Association will host its April honors recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The Butler North.
Students performing will be Julia Rea, Sasha Petrochko, Sydney Hardy, Jacilyn Wilk, Lydia Noble, Luke Martinucci, Anne Rea, Sylvia Traw, Hannah Crowe, Charlie Staffeld, Jessica Wilk, Seth Welch, Andre Tonkinson, Miranda Olenic, Sam Dipre, Elliott Roose, Jacob Rizer, Thomas Jong, Bryson Stemock, and Joseph Mansfield, the scholarship winner.
Teachers represented will be Diane Yazvac, Alison Morris, Rick Barber, Sean Baran, Dolores Hansley, Nancy McNeal, Dan Barber, Susan Owens and Cynthia Evans.
Rick Barber is the host.
Church is location of pasta feast
Boardman Gridiron Club and Spartan Football are sponsoring a pasta feast from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St.
The menu includes salad, bread and dessert.
Tickets are $7.50 and free for children 5 and under (dine-in only). Dine-in or carryout are available.
Benefit concert is set for Sunday
Protestant Family Service will present a benefit Spring Concert Sunday at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive.
Refreshments will be served at 3 p.m. and the concert will begin at 4. The concert will be a musical variety program.
An offering will be taken for the ministry of helping others.
Ursuline Class of 1950 will meet for luncheon
Members of the Ursuline Class of 1950 will celebrate its 65th anniversary with a luncheon at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson’s Restaurant on Canfield Road.
The reunions have been held since 1960. Recently, class members decided to have luncheons twice a year, making it easier to travel during the day.
A second reunion luncheon will take place Sept. 23 at the same location.
Arrangements are being made to take photos of the class.
