Trans-Siberian coming to Covelli

Staff report

After skipping a few years, Trans-Siberian Orchestra will return to Covelli Centre on Jan. 2 for two performances: 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Tickets for both shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covelli box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 800-745-3000. Prices are $40.50, $49.50, $59.50 and $69.50.

The holiday-season act blends classic-rock guitar with opera-quality vocalists and classical arrangements.

The upcoming tour will see Trans-Siberian Orchestra perform “The Christmas Attic,” the third in TSO’s trilogy of albums.

“The Christmas Attic” has never been performed before. It features one of the band’s most popular songs, “Christmas Canon.”

The album will also be re-released to coincide with the tour, complete with downloadable bonus tracks, as well as a special vinyl edition.

The album’s (and stage production’s) narrative begins on Christmas Eve, when a young girl’s curiosity leads her to a night of mischief and magic. She sneaks into the attic of her parents’ home while she should be asleep and discovers a magical doorway to the past in the form of a mysterious trunk filled with ornaments, toys, old records and bundles of handwritten letters.

The second half of the concert will feature TSO classics and fan favorites.
