Wind Ensemble plays tonight


“An Evening at the Pops” featuring the Youngstown State University Dana School of Music Wind Ensemble will be at 7 p.m. today at the outdoor venue, Harrison Common, on Walnut Street.

Conducted by Stephen L. Gage, Kevin Scales & Nick Marzoula, the free concert is designed in the Boston Pops format and includes a variety including music from Mario Brothers games as well as from the soundtrack of the movie “Robin Hood. “The program will conclude with the patriotic Armed Forces Salute and John Phillip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

Patrons should bring a lawn chair and may bring snacks. Alcohol is not permitted. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue deck for a nominal fee, accessed best via the Walnut Street entrance to ensure easy access to Harrison Common. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be in Room 2326 of Bliss Hall.

Cruise to car show


A classic car show is planned from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road. Rain date is Sept. 13.

Car registration fee is $8. All makes, models and years are welcome. There will be trophies, dash plaques for the first 25 cars, and lots of door prizes.

Shorty Rossi at Cleveland Pet Expo


Cleveland Pet Expo will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Cleveland Convention Center featuring Shorty Rossi and his service dog, Hercules, from “Pit Boss,” which airs on Animal Planet.
