Final: YSU 5, Indiana State 2

Published: Sat, May 31, 2014 @ 4:48 p.m.

— Senior right-hander Patrick O'Brien, a Boardman High graduate, gave Youngstown State a solid start today as the Penguins beat Indiana State, 5-2, in an elimination game in the NCAA Bloomington Regional.

The victory keeps YSU (17-37) alive in the regional and sends the Penguins into a game at 1 p.m. Sunday against the loser of tonight's game between Stanford and Indiana. The Hoosiers beat YSU, 10-2, on Friday night. The Cardinal beat Indiana State, 8-1, on Friday.

If YSU wins Sunday's first game, it would play the winner of tonight's game at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
