Brown to retire as Boardman fire chief

Published: Wed, May 14, 2014 @ 1:25 p.m.

BOARDMAN

Fire Chief George Brown confirmed he is planning on retiring this year, but would not say when exactly he would leave.

The 60-year-old fire chief has been in the fire service for 43 years and with the Boardman Fire Department as a chief since June 2011.

“It’s time for me to move on,” Brown said. “I have done what I can for Boardman.”

A news release with more information is expected to be released later this afternoon, Brown said.

Huh? I wonder if the fire chief took that awesome deal where the safety services retire and stay working for 3 more years and bank thier salary for 3 years while collecting thier retirement! Talk about ripping off the taxpayers and double dipping!
