Brown to retire as Boardman fire chief

Published: Wed, May 14, 2014 @ 1:25 p.m.

BOARDMAN

Fire Chief George Brown confirmed he is planning on retiring this year, but would not say when exactly he would leave.

The 60-year-old fire chief has been in the fire service for 43 years and with the Boardman Fire Department as a chief since June 2011.

“It’s time for me to move on,” Brown said. “I have done what I can for Boardman.”

A news release with more information is expected to be released later this afternoon, Brown said.

Before a new Chief is appointed , this is a golden opportunity to amalgamate the Boardman & Youngstown ( & possibly other ) Fire departments & get a better service at lower cost .

2muchtax,
You need to start checking your facts and quit posting falsehoods. Remember that one side is not always wrong and one side is not always right.

Speaking to civil employees costing taxpayers additional money, the "double dipping" actually saves money. Don't believe it? Check it out.
