Campbell police arrest woman on drug charges

A 39-year-old city woman was arrested on multiple drug charges following a Monday traffic stop that produced five hypodermic needles, a cotton ball of suspected heroin, a pill identified as a Schedule IV controlled substance, and three spoons with drug residue.

Sharon L. Ritter, of Kendall Avenue, will answer to these charges — felony possession of heroin, possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of Schedule IV drugs, driving under suspension and operation of vehicle at stop signs — in Campbell Municipal Court.

Police stopped Ritter shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday for failing to stop at the intersection of Coitsville Road and Wilson Avenue. She was unable to provide identification, and police leaned that her driver's license had been suspended. Officers then searched the car, finding and confiscating the illegal items, along with $48 in cash.

Though others were in the car, and were initially arrested as well, Ritter provided a written statement to police, saying the items were hers. She was held without bond at the Mahoning County jail.
