YSU sweeps Horizon League outdoor track titles

Published: Sun, May 4, 2014 @ 6:21 p.m.

The Youngstown State men's and women's track teams swept the Horizon League outdoor track championships this weekend.

The men's team won its first league outdoor championship since 1997, when it competed in the Mid-Continent Conference. That was also the only other year when the Penguins won both men's and women's outdoor track titles.

It is the first Horizon League men's title for YSU in any sport since 2004, when the Penguin baseball team won the tournament title.

YSU's women won their seventh Horizon League outdoor track title and earned running's "Triple Crown," capturing titles in indoor and outdoor track and cross country.
