Aldridge, Scott earn All-Ohio honors

LaBrae High basketball standout Peyton Aldridge has been selected to the Associated Press’ All-Ohio first team after averaging 21.4 points per game.

The 6-foot-8 senior, three times the AP’s Northeast Inland Player of the Year has a scholarship to play for Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.

A year ago, Aldridge helped lead the Vikings to the Division III state semifinals in Columbus. In the biggest game in school history, LaBrae led Versailles by four points at halftime before falling 64-52.

This season, the Vikings lost to Girard, 64-53, in the district final. Aldridge netted 30 points in his final varsity game.

In Division IV, Wellsville’s Nate Scott was named first-team All-Ohio after helping lead the Tigers to a tie with McDonald for the Inter Tri-County League Tier Two title. Scott averaged 22 points.

The Tigers also were eliminated in the district semifinals, losing 74-47 to St. Thomas Aquinas.

Two Valley players received second-team honors — Liberty’s Asim Pleas in Division III and McDonald’s Matt Seitz in Division IV.

Pleas, a 6-3 senior, averaged 23 points for the Leopards, who were eliminated by Girard, 62-33, in the sectional final.

Seitz averaged 25 points for the Blue Devils, who advanced to the district final where they were eliminated by St. Thomas Aquinas, 90-48.

Receiving special mention status were Girard’s Dylan O’Hara, Wellsville’s Camden Douglas, Mathews’ Wyatt Ford and Lowellville’s Paolo DePasquale.
