Staff report

A 36-year-old homeless man who stayed for a while at a home in Newton Falls has pleaded not guilty to 22 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.

The charges could result in a prison term of more than 100 years.

Bernard R. Stuntebeck is being held in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond after being arraigned Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Court documents say the charges resulted from an FBI investigation that found child pornography that Stuntebeck downloaded and reproduced on a computer at a home in Newton Falls in October.

Each count carries a possible prison term of eight years if he’s convicted. The charges do not allege he committed hands-on offenses against children, but allege he reproduced digital images depicting children as young as 3 being raped.

The case is scheduled to go to trial March 31 unless Stuntebeck agrees to postpone it.
