South Side man charged with assaulting Youngstown City Hall security guard

Published: Wed, March 12, 2014 @ 12:15 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — A West Boston Avenue man is in Mahoning County jail after police reports said he assaulted a Youngstown City Hall security guard about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Reports said that Luther Reviere Jr., 55, was in city hall doing community service work and was becoming flustered because he kept setting the metal detector off because he had a lot of metal in his pockets and had to keep stepping through. After he stepped through the last time, he swore as he got on an elevator and then banged on the doors from the inside as the elevator went up, reports said.

Reviere came back down a few minutes later and swore again. When a guard tried to calm him down he pushed the guard and had to be wrestled to the ground in front of the mayor’s office. Reviere faces charges of resisting arrest, assault and disorderly conduct.

I Don't know this man, but Kudos to him for these fake or esx-cops posing as security guards are a bunch of A#$ Holes... They make it impossible for even professional people to go through. Once one of them even made people take off their belts... They then stand around and laugh and smirk... I get that you need security at a court house with all of these crazy lunatics out there, however, there should be a way of not making every one that comes through those doors feel like criminals. Wonder what the Mayor will do about this. I am surprised this didn't happen sooner.

legaleagle are you serious? "fake or esx-cops posing as security guards.." what does that even mean? You should like a security guard upset because you got rejected for that job. Are you complaining that people have to go through a metal detector?

Legaleagle - it's obvious you have some type of grudge against the officers working to protect those who frequent city hall. Your comment about removing a belt leads me to believe you are the individual who was several people in front of me when I recently visited city hall to pay my water bill. You had on one of those "girlie" belts with all the metal studs or rivets lining the whole belt, and got highly upset when the officer asked you to remove it. You insisted you should just be "wanded" meaning the officer should just use the hand held metal detector. When the officer told you that wouldn't work because it just indicates there is metal there (which anyone could see) and not what is behind the belt, something your tiny mind just could not grasp, you became hostile and tried to provoke a fight. Kudos to the officer for keeping his cool and not using his taser on you like I would have liked to do. If you you were made to feel like a criminal, it's because at that time, you were one. Do me and everyone else a favor and just stay home. If you think city hall is too strict, you better never set foot in an airport. I don't have to type suggestive characters to call you a name. You are a moron.
