BREAKING NEWS | ODNR halts shale drilling in Poland after earthquakes

Published: Mon, March 10, 2014 @ 3:19 p.m.

POLAND — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has ordered Hilcorp to halt all operations in Poland Township after two earthquakes shook the area today.

The first occurred at 2:26 a.m. at 40.017 N, 80.537 W at a depth of 1.2 miles in Lowellville, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. USGS initially recorded that quake at a magnitude of 2.8, but later updated it to a 3.0 magnitude.

The epicenter was directly below property owned by Republic Services’ Carbon Limestone Landfill, where Hilcorp Energy Co. has one well actively producing and a number of others being drilled.

The second occurred at 11:44 a.m., to the southeast of the first epicenter in Lowellville, registering at a 2.6 magnitude.

There are no injection wells in the area.

Both sites are near laterals extending from hydraulic fracturing wells.

Most importantly we need to ask if Oak Hill was evacuated successfully.

This is a de facto admission that fracking causes earthquakes. We've known that injection wells do, but now we know fracking does as well.

And ODNR HAD to do this because they know it to be true, as 3 separate studies from 3 different countries have all concluded that fracking causes earthquakes:

1) Canada:

2) United States:

Drill baby drill. So what, some minor earthquakes. If they actually happened and weren't manufactured by the left wing media. There was no reports of earthquakes in Poland Ohio on the Fox News Channel.

Don't worry people of Poland. I'm sure that the drilling companies will pay for all of your property damages and then a little extra for your troubles.

Uticashale, where are you? I'm dying to hear how this one is going to be spun.

That's because Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News (along with Roger Ailes), along with Dick Cheney and others are heavily invested in "Genie Energy"- major frackers in the USA and the "Mideast"- most notably the Golan Heights. Rupert and his associates would dare not expose fracking for what it truly is now would he?

It was not two earthquakes. It was four. Look at USGA under all magnitudes. There was a 3.0 at 2:26 followed by a 2.4 at 2:42. At 11:03 there was one measuring 2.2 and one measuring 2.6 at 11:44. All along the same area along Cowden Road.

People that don't have drilling near them or don't have anything to lose and everything to gain by supporting drilling will always say it isn't so. Guess what folks. IT IS SO! This nightmare needs to stop.

This energy isn't Green Energy or Clean Energy. It's only Green to those making the Green on the top of the cash pyramid.

Take a balloon and fill it with water and rocks and push on it. That's our "water rock" in the north along with irreplaceable fresh water.

When the balloon breaks it's called an earthquake, vein break.

Down south they are 1000 feet or more below sea level without glacial rock. Less to drill, better weather, lower cost.

An article in another venue sums up the fact that the drillers are finding that our rock formations and wetlands are making it a rough go up north and not profitable.

Keep pushing the balloon with that "old dump juice" and glacial rock in it and watch what happens.

The library had a taste of that "old dump juice". There were 3 quakes today. 2:30am, 2:43am (aftershock), and 11:46am.

It's an experiment up here. This type of drilling into these formations hasn't been tried and proven, and the pipe isn't hardened to last. It's being produced hastily by a foreign company to rape quick dollars.

That "old dump juice" is hot, deep, and flowing under our feet further out as they drill.....smell the stench.........nothing new for this area........it's like the airplane factory.... POP! They're flying away!

I live in a bunker, so I am safe. I thought I was going to die from Obama though, not fracking.

An airplane factory was built by the airport years ago - they flew away.

Just like the drillers when the liability and taxes come knocking. They sure made it sound swell with the $250,000 tax write off for the shiny equipment before it expired last year! Raping of American dollars and jobs flying away too. They're running for the border........

When you hear loud hissing before you get jolted off the couch by a quake what do you say? Snake oil salesman at the door?

Nothing a little greasin' money to the appropriate "authorities" won't fix. Come on Kasich, get your pro industry regulators dismissing this, and your pocketed media connections(talking to you Vindicator) spinning this no good dirty carpet bagging industry's evil doings.

After all folks, we have been promised some crumbs !!

My only wish is that all the visitors driving around with their Texas license plates still abide by STATE LAW and put some Ohio tags on their cars, after 30 days, of course.

Assuming they'll be here that long.
