This summer, the Sisters of the Humility of Mary will celebrate 150 years in the United States and remember the sacrifice and bravery of the early sisters who left France to come to America.

As part of the 150th anniversary, the sisters plan to create a Litany of Thanksgiving of all those who've been blessed with an association to the sisters.

Men’s weekend


Restoration Christian Fellowship, 151 Folsom St. NW, will host the sixth annual men’s weekend next week.

Bowling will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Freeway Lanes, Parkman Road. A prayer breakfast will take place at 9 a.m. next Saturday at the church multipurpose building. An all-men’s choir will sing at a service at 11 a.m. March 16 with the Rev. Dwight Dumas as guest speaker.

Women’s weekend


The women of the Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., will conduct the annual “Women of Victory Celebration Weekend” next month at the Holiday Inn-Boardman, 7410 South Ave.

A prayer breakfast will be at 9 a.m. April 5 with guest speaker, Elder Cynthia Wright-Palmer of the Elizabeth Baptist Church.

Ticket donation is $20; contact the church at 330-746-1217.

No tickets will be sold at the door.

Deadline to buy tickets is March 30.

The celebration will continue at 10:45 a.m. April 6 at the church with guest speaker, minister Danita-Harris Pratt from Fresh Wind Ministry in Cleveland.

Spirituality Day


The Benedictine Sisters of Queen of Heaven Monastery will host a Spirituality Day from 1 to 4:30 p.m. April 5 at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Center, 180 Belvedere Ave. NE.

The Rev. Stephen J. Wahal, pastor of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Donora, Pa., and St. Mary Assumption Church in Monessen, Pa., will speak on “The Liturgy of the Word in the Great Fast.”

There will be time for reflection, questions, refreshments, the Mystery (Sacrament) of Reconciliation and vespers.

Gospel Echoes


The Gospel Echoes will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren Meadville Road.

The group started the concert series six years ago.

A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Pastor anniversary


The 11th anniversary of Pastor Larry Alexander of Phillips Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 1407 Victor Ave., will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Pastor Cleavon Dukes and congregation of New Hope Baptist Church in Farrell, Pa., will attend.

Choir celebration


The adult choir of Mount Gilead Baptist Adult Choir, 2821 Hillman St., will celebrate its pre-anniversary at 4:30 p.m. March 16.

Guest speaker will be the Curtis Minter and congregation from Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Akron.
