Campbell man with pipe bomb bound over to grand jury

Published: Fri, March 7, 2014 @ 4:42 p.m.

CAMPBELL — The case of a 32-year-old city man found with a pipe bomb in his car during a traffic stop was bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury today.

Paul J. Trimacco, of 16th Street, is charged with possession of a dangerous ordnance. Bond for the fifth-degree felony was reduced to $35,000, 10 percent cash or surety, while Trimacco’s other charges — failing to secure a dangerous ordinance, driving under suspension and failing to stop at a stop sign — were dismissed.

The Campbell Fire Department and the Youngstown police bomb squad were called out to Wilson Avenue and Seventh Street on Monday afternoon after police discovered the PVC pipe bomb in Trimacco’s car. Police later searched Trimacco’s residence and found only a belt of ammunition and a few stray bullets, both of which were taken as evidence.
