YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Development Services Agency Office of Community Assistance has extended the Home Energy Assistance Program Winter Crisis Program application deadline to April 15.

Those threatened with gas or electric disconnection, are disconnected, or if their propane tank contains 35 percent or less of its capacity and meet income guidelines, may apply.

Residents must make an appointment at the MYCAP Youngstown office by calling toll-free at 866-223-1125; or in the Western Mahoning County office in Sebring at 330-938-6166. Those already without service do not need an appointment, but may visit either office weekdays at 8 a.m.

A maximum one-time payment in the form of a credit on a person’s energy bill up to $175 per heating season is allowed under the program guidelines.

Bulk fuel households are eligible for up to $750. Customers using coal/wood are eligible for up to $350.
