Aerial Port Squadron packs humanitarian cargo for Guatamala

Published: Thu, June 12, 2014 @ 7:28 p.m.

VIENNA — Air Force Reservists from the 910th Airlift Wing’s 76th Aerial Port Squadron at Youngstown Air Reserve Station will finish loading a C-5 Galaxy transport aircraft early Friday for a humanitarian airlift to Guatemala.

The cargo of medical equipment, furniture, clothing and other items will eventually service a pediatric hospital being built by the Austintown-based Mission of Love charity.

The cargo is being shipped via the Denton program, which allows private U.S. citizens and organizations to use space available on U.S. military cargo planes to transport humanitarian goods to countries in need.

The program is jointly administered by a government agency known as USAID, the Department of State, and the Department of Defense.
