The St. Joseph Immaculate Heart of Mary student council joined the Harvest for Hunger campaign during the month of April.
They created a video for Facebook asking people to not spend a dime, sending the saved dimes to the school for the Second Harvest Food Bank. This campaign raised awareness of how much food is needed to feed the hungry. By having people pay attention to dimes for a month, the students hope that every time a dime is seen, people will think of charity.
In the month of April, $350.50 was raised. In order to maximize the contributions, the money will be donated through the Youngstown Foundation, as this organization will donate an additional five percent to the Second Harvest Food Bank. This translates into more than $5520 in food for the food bank.
