The Canfield Village Middle School’s seventh- and eighth-grade choirs presented their annual Spring Concert at the Canfield High School on May 8. The choirs, including the Cardinal Chorale, were under the direction of Stephanie Summers and were accompanied on piano by Jodine Pilmer.
Summers welcomed the audience full of family and friends to the concert.
“Thank you for coming and we hope you enjoy our show tonight,” Summers said.
The Cardinal Chorale, comprised of both seventh- and eighth-grade students, opened the show with “Gaudeamus Hodie” by Earlene Rentz and moved into “She Sings” by Amy Bernon.
The Cardinal Chorale closed its performance with “That’s What the Devil Said” by Kupferschmid and Althouse.
The seventh-grade choir then took the stage to perform “Celebrate with Jubilant Song” by Mary Lynn Lightfoot. They continued the performance with “You Are the Music in Me” by Jaimie Houston, arranged by Mac Huff. Soloists for this song included, Isabella Audia, Kayla Fekety, Emily Dunko, Michelle Fulton, Giannah Marasovich, Cassidy Mersing and Alexandria Okelberry.
The choir concluded its portion of the show with “Party in the U.S.A.” by Kelly, Gottwald and Cornish, arranged by Greg Gilpin.
The eighth-grade choir, performing its last middle school concert, began the presentation with “Rhythm of Life” by Coleman and Fields, arranged by John Leavitt and then sang “Seasons of Love” with solos by Samantha Morris, Jaclyn Edelstein and Lilly Tomko.
The choir closed the concert with a rousing rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Freddie Mercury, arranged by Mark Brymer.
