CLEVELAND — A Youngstown man won the top prize drawing on an Ohio Lottery instant game. Thomas Surko won $100,000 in the Special Edition Cashword prize drawing July 17.

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 29 percent, Surko will receive $71,000.

Surko purchased the $5,500 semifinalist entry ticket at the BP service station, 2069 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown. BP will receive a $1,000 agent bonus for selling a semifinalist winning ticket.

Don't worry the sucker will be back and spend that $71000 or more on the worst bet in the gaming industry. Just a voluntary tax on the poor. Jusrt think on these stupid tickets the state already knows how much they are going to pay out, a suckers bet for sure.

Don't forget the saying "easy come easy go". Good luck Mr. Surko. Very nice to have a $71k windfall but be careful... spend wisely, invest the rest.

I can't even start to believe that any 'poster' would have a negative vibe for this lucky dude! He won some cash! Good for him.

FYI- the lottery is a 'voluntary tax,' I.e. unlike most other government stuff, no one is forced to participate or pay.

Don't cry about others' good luck. Have a great day, or even WEEK, sir!

The "Best Advice Award" goes to 76Ytown.

Absolutely right, spend wisely and INVEST the rest which should be most of it.

Too many windfall recipients don't know how to deal with it and loose it due to impulsive spending.

Although $71,000, is no real windfall it could be the basis for a supplemental retirement bonus if Mr. Surko is a young man and does the right thing.

Congratulations Thomas! Special Edition Cashword was the best overall game to play in OH, but that's no longer going to be the case after Mr Surko's big win.
We disagree with some of the other comments above - instant scratch off games can yield the best odds of winning a big prize, but only if you track the game details! Find out more at http://ScratchSmarter.com
