South Side standoff ends peacefully

Published: Mon, July 28, 2014 @ 1:53 p.m.

A high speed chase led to a standoff that, after negotiations, was able to end peacefully today.

The incident began with a burglary in Vienna Township, then turned into a hit and run and became an high speed chase down state Route 11 at more than 100 mph at times.

The episode finally ended with the suspect barricading himself in a house at 3025 Kiwatha Road. After some negotiation the situation ended peacefully and the suspect was taken for medical attention.

Vienna Township Police Chief Andy Pecchio said the suspect would be charged with several felony charges relating to the chase and burglary.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released.

Is that a lawn jockey in the picture or is it the suspect? This was at one time a very beautiful neighborhood. In fact, Judge Cavalier lived near this home. Now, it is full of cockroaches.

Your lack of humility reflects on how you must have been raised. I am ashamed for your poor mother.

Your racism reflects your ignorance.

Go into the light, man, the faster the better.

It would be the best way for you to make the world a better place. But I know you are only interested in bringing it down to your level.

Racist!?!?!? I'm not the one with the lawn jockey in the front yard! And, what is there to show humility about? That the current inhabitants RUINED a once great neighborhood? Have you driven the area around Kiwatha, especially on Glenwood and seen the rathole houses?

BTW, my mother is now dead but, eight years before she died, she was brutally beaten by a black man that invaded her home. Please don't preach to me until you watch an ER doc stick his finger in your mother's scalp to she if her skull has any cracks.
