Struthers man charged with shooting at cat

Published: Fri, July 25, 2014 @ 8:47 p.m.

STRUTHERS — A 57-year-old Park Avenue man faces a felony charge of improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation for opening fire on his cat, shooting bullets through the walls of his home and those of a nearby residence.

Mark Cook, 57, was arraigned today in Struthers Municipal Court. His bond was set at $15,000, 10 percent cash or surety.

Detective Jeff Lewis of the Struthers Police Department said officers were called to the neighboring home shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday, after the occupants said their home had received gunshot damage.

Police questioned Cook about the incident, and he eventually admitted shooting at the cat, saying he got mad when the feline climbed on a bed and began clawing at the bedclothes.

Police said the cat was not hit. Cook told police he shot at the animal to scare it.

Police also removed more than 30 weapons from his house.

Sounds like one of those good old country boys with a gun(an NRA good guy with a gun) . 30 weapons and he still missed inside the house, shooting at a cat on the bed . HOW big was this bed room ??? A100 yards across ? Did he have a NRA card on him ??? Bet it was a life time Gold card .

This boy was just expressing himself city style. Now that his guns have been confiscated and his liberty taken away he will need psychiatric counseling for many years to restore his self esteem. Without Obamacare he would have no future.

Wow ! Bullet holes in his own walls plus the neighbors?

In the Army they always taught us to be sure of the area behind your target.

Real smart shooting. I'll bet the pussy cat is laughing at him.

Disarming the deranged is a step in the right direction. Those with compromised mental abilities are limited as to what damage they can cause when disarmed. Guns in the city affect more than just the intended target. This case has shown that the police are our best protection. The guns have been removed and the criminal is behind bars. Let's get all of the guns off the streets!

topper11 is just a good old city boy. He has shown us all what is on his mind. He assumes others row in the direction he does.
