Obama opens Eastern Seaboard to oil exploration

Published: Fri, July 18, 2014 @ 2:36 p.m.

ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The Obama administration is reopening the Eastern Seaboard to offshore oil and gas exploration, announcing final approval today of sonic cannons that can pinpoint energy deposits deep beneath the ocean floor. The decision promises to create plenty of jobs and thrills the oil industry, but dismays environmentalists worried about the immediate impact as well as the long-term implications of oil development.

For those who are against drilling I suggest that you buy a Horse or Mule and a buggy! For those drilling haters who need to slim down buy a bicycle. Walking would do you good also if you cant afford anything else.

That Obama is coming to his senses is questionable.

There has to be a political motive behind this.

steivo is right, the environmentalist wackos will have a conniption over this.

The obamanator is getting the message from democratic lawmakers that the midterm elections are going to be a disaster. He has to pivot and hope the people stay stupid and reelect bleeding heart liberals like Harry Reid and nancy pelvis I'm sure the "valley" wil continue to support Obama and other democrats and be left looking through their fingers fingers as the rest of country rebounds from obama's disasterous policies

Finally, November is approaching and the American people can send this Liar a loud and clear message by electing a Republican Senate. Then the Congress can pass legislation to get us out of the mess this Liar has put us in. Then the Liar will be flushed out as he will be forced to veto legislation that could help the economy.

take another look people. The term here is "exploration". It does NOT say that there is a go-ahead to extract even a single drop of petroleum. Bluntly, it's an opportunity for Zero to get a headline while doing almost nothing. He's got a talent there, and of course the sycophants of the Associated Presstitutes are happy to blather some sort of hosanna whenever requested.
If you doubt me, look up record of matters just after the Manchurian Candidate took up office -- one of the first things, one of the VERY first things, was to summarily cancel permits for production wells about to be drilled. Nothing, not one thing that this guy does is for the good of the nation. And never will be.Just part of his plan to reduce the rest of the country to the despair and misery that the Steel Valley has "enjoyed" under similar governing philosophy for so long. Much loved by the Dumb-o-crats.

gdog, you are wrong again. The reason the Dow Jones has risen from around 6000 to todays 17,000 is because the Republicans were able to block Obamas agenda. Business loves stalemates because they can plan ahead.

@tnmartin,
It wasn't lost on me that this Liar has committed to nothing to drill for more oil only to "explore". But these enviro-nazi's will be opposed to even exploring for the oil.

We all know how wonderful the Republican Party was for the middle class and the economy. When Obama took office the economy was in its worst shape since the Great Depression. The foreclosure crisis saw a record number of Americans lose their homes. The U.S. Suffered the greatest intelligence failure in the history of the WORLD on 9/11. Toss in the 4,000 plus AMERICANS KILLED and the 8 TRILLION DOLLARS unaccounted for in Bush's fictitious war for Weapons of Mass Destruction. We got to see Republican arrogance, ignorance and incompetence at its finest when they turned the Katrina recovery into a train wreck. Things today look GREAT compared to then.
Regarding IMMIGRATION, are you friekin kidding me? It wasn't the Democrats who brought the illegals here, it was the union busting Republicans who brought them here for CHEAP labor. And there ladies and gentlemen went the middle class!!

-Bush had nothing to do with the IRS scandal.
-Bush had nothing to do with Benghazi but if he did, it would have made a difference to him.
-Bush certainly had nothing to do with the LiarCare debacle
-Bush had nothing to do with the immigration train wreck.
This Liar has made a mess of the country.

The country is much better now than it was. There is NO link to the Obama Administration and the IRS.
4 people died in Benghazi, over 4,000 AMERICANS died in Iraq.
ObamaCare is a success as it has insured over 8 million more people all while decreasing health care impact on GDP.
Bush embraced illegal immigration, he said, "many of these people are here doing jobs that most Americans don't want to do."
The stock market is at an all-time high!!

The stock market and the economy go through natural cycles of boom and bust.

The current bull market is a bit ahead of itself because the underlying economy is still weak.

That nothing much is happening in Washington is, in a way, a good thing.

When politicians tie themselves up in dispute they can not do too much damage although Obama is doing it on his own.
