Bill would expand community-based addiction treatment

CLEVELAND — U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan is co-sponsoring a bill to establish a five-year plan to expand community-based treatment to address heroin addiction.

In a press conference today in Cleveland, Ryan of Howland, D-13th, and the bill’s sponsor, U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge of Cleveland, D-11th, unveiled the Breaking Addiction Act. If approved, it would allow sates to receive federal reimbursement for Medicaid services provided to in-patients who receive treatment for chemical-substance abuse at a community-treatment facility.
