Published: Thu, July 17, 2014 @ 12:00 a.m.

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

General Motors executives will appear before the U.S. Senate Commerce subcommittee on consumer protection today about the ignition-switch recalls.

Expected to testify are GM CEO Mary Barra, GM general counsel Mike Millikin, and Delphi CEO Rodney O’Neal, among others. This will be the second hearing the Senate subcommittee has had about the issue.

According to The Associated Press, it is thought that O’Neal will be asked about communication between Delphi employees and the GM engineer responsible for the switch.

One of today’s witnesses, Anton Valukas, led GM’s internal investigation of the handling of the recall.

The hearing begins at 10 a.m. and will be aired on C-SPAN3. It also will be streamed online at www.c-span.org/live/?channel=c-span-3. Coverage of the hearing will be available at vindy.com and in Friday’s Vindicator.
