2 city men arrested in separate domestic violence cases
YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested two men in separate domestic violence incidents early Monday morning and Sunday.
About 12:20 a.m. Monday police were called to a home in the 200 block of Maywood Avenue for a report of a fight with a gun. When officers arrived, a woman told them her husband, James Lee Colyar, 46, had held a loaded handgun to her head and threatened to kill her.
Colyar was arrested for a charge of domestic violence and was taken to the Mahoning County jail. Police also confiscated the handgun, reports said.
About 7:35 p.m. police were called to a home in the 600 block of Misletoe Avenue where a woman there said her boyfriend had poured a can of gas on her head.
Reports said the woman told police she was arguing with 61-year-old Larry T. Bridges, who lists the home as his address, and she told him to leave.
Reports said Bridges went into the garage and was taking things belonging to the woman’s dead husband and she came outside and told him to stop.
Bridges then picked up a gasoline can and poured gasoline over the woman’s head, reports said.
Bridges was arrested for domestic violence and also taken to the jail.
