Apparent murder-suicide in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Police continue to investigate an apparent murder-suicide that occurred late Friday.

According to a release from the Pennsylvania State Police, 29-year-old Justin E. Burnett and 60-year-old Douglas C. Weingartner, both of a home in the 4300 block of Ellwood Road, got into an argument shortly before the 10:30 p.m. shooting. Burnett shot Weingartner, his stepfather, four times with a .40-caliber handgun in Weingartner’s bedroom, then proceeded to the downstairs living room, where he shot himself.

The Lawrence County deputy coroner pronounced Burnett and Weingartner dead at the scene.
