The Phillip K. Jones Quartet will return to the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Sunday for a 5 p.m. show that is part of the Second Sundays Jazz Series.
The show includes a dinner prepared by Guy’s Catering. Admission is $25 ($45 for couples) at the door.
Tickets can also be purchased in advance at Joe Maxx Coffee (downtown), Goldie’s Flowers on Belmont Avenue, and Excalibur Barber Grooming Lounge in Southern Park Mall; and online at secondsundays.net.
“This is Phil’s third time gracing the Second Sundays stage and many standing ovations always follow,” said Jere B, producer of the series. “We couldn’t think of a better musician to complete a great weekend of wonderful entertainment.”
The concert will begin as the Summer Festival of the Arts at Youngstown State University is winding down.
The Cleveland-based Jones has released nine genre-defying CDs that merge Afro-Cuban, Latin, traditional hymns and fusion blends.
Also performing Sunday will be DJ Phil the Beat. The event will also include door prizes and other surprises for advance ticket holders.
Second Sundays’ partnership with Derek Emerson includes a Charity of the Month. Emerson’s Southern Park Mall Chick-fil-A location provides incentives for customers to donate.
The July charity is Victory Compassion Ministries, a faith based initiative, operated through Victory Christian Center.
