“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” the second film in the rebooted franchise, opens in theaters Friday. In the film series, intelligent apes revel and eventually take over the world. The original series, a science-fiction landmark, aired in the late 1960s and ‘70s. Here are the original titles, release dates and directors:

v “Planet of the Apes”: Feb. 8, 1968; Franklin J. Schaffner

v “Beneath the Planet of the Apes”: May 27, 1970; Ted Post

v “Escape from the Planet of the Apes”: May 21, 1971; Don Taylor

v “Conquest of the Planet of the Apes”: June 29, 1972; J. Lee Thompson

v “Battle for the Planet of the Apes”: June 15, 1973; J. Lee Thompson

“iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party” (8 p.m., CW): Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea are among the guests at host Nick Cannon’s Miami shindig.

“EXTANT” (9 p.m., CBS): If Sandra Bullock can rocket off into outer space, why not Halle Berry? In this suspenseful, futuristic “event” series, the Oscar-winner plays an astronaut, who after a 13-month solo mission, struggles to reconnect with her family, which includes a creepy little robot boy. But there’s a bigger problem: While in space, she somehow became pregnant. Uh-oh. Baby (or alien?) on board.

“American Muscle” (9 p.m., Discovery Channel): Are you pumped up for “American Muscle”? The new reality series follows tough-talking Detroit gym owner Mike Barwis and his scruffy crew as they train everyone from NFL stars to severely injured people looking to walk again.

“The Bridge” (10 p.m., FX): The mix of money laundering, police corruption, drug wars and culture clashes continues to make for a very dark crime thriller as “The Bridge” returns for Season 2. Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir star.
