The artwork of nine women won recognition in the YWCA of Youngstown’s 32nd annual Women Artists: A Celebration! show.
The show features 146 pieces of art by 68 artists. The pieces are original artwork including paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, fiber works and ceramics.
The free exhibit is open from noon to 4 p.m. through July 18. Other events will take place in conjunction with the show.
Brenda Myers-Cohen, a Girard-based freelance artist, will conduct a collage workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Advance registration and a $10 materials fee are required. Also, a free keyboard and vocal performance by Rayna Brooks will take place from noon to 1 p.m. July 17.
The juror for the show, Edie Davidson, chose the honorees, who received their awards June 21. The prize money totaled $1,400. Davidson is art department leader/art teacher at Boardman High School and art department adjunct professor at Youngstown State University.
