Journey Cafe events at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St., are planned for 7 p.m. Thursday, as well as July 31 and Aug. 21.
The church is at Elm Street and Illinois Avenue on the city’s North Side, and participants are asked to enter through the Illinois entrance.
The Journey Cafe Self-Discovery Series provides a casual and safe space to explore the self in relation to place, family and purpose.
Meet friends and make new ones in an atmosphere that encourages conversations, questions and personal stories using videos, reflective activities, readings and other materials, followed by discussion, the church says in a press release.
Journey Cafe gathers friendly people to explore the influences that shape our lives and give meaning to self. Each event will explore a different theme. Thursday’s event will explore “Self in Place,” how we live in relationship to our communities; July 31 will explore “Self in Family,” how we live in relationship to family; and Aug. 21, ”Self in Purpose,” how we live a life rich in meaning and purpose.
Future topics may include the self in relation to work, fear, body, balance, health, guilt, anger, technology, sexuality, race, gender or passion.
