CAMPBELL — A 28-year-old city man faces felony charges of assault and illegal possession of weapons.
Michael J. Pippins of Sanderson Avenue, who also was charged with resisting arrest, is set to appear in Campbell Municipal Court later today.
Police responded to the Sanderson Avenue residence shortly before 1:30 a.m. today after a 24-year-old resident told police Pippins had struck her in the head multiple times with a handgun and was still inside the home with the handgun and her children.
Officers noticed swelling and cuts to the woman’s face, head and left forearm, as well as cuts to Pippin’s right shoulder and left hand. They took the handgun and bullets as evidence, later discovering that Pippins should not have a weapon because of his conviction on prior felonies.
Both the woman and Pippins were taken to area hospitals for their injuries.
