Triduum planned

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 343 Via Mount Carmel, will have Mass and triduum at noon Thursday and Friday and at noon and 5 p.m. July 12.

A Mass for the solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be at noon July 13.

A triduum is a three-day religious observance.

Candidate welcomed

Sisters of the Humility of Mary have announced that Eilis McCulloh has been accepted into the community as a candidate.

Her entrance into the community was celebrated at a prayer service and ice- cream social June 15.

A Youngstown native and graduate of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., McCulloh is currently working as a case manager with a refugee resettlement organization.

Special event

Cheryl Buxamusa, a former high school speech and theater teacher from Cobleskill, N.Y., will present a dramatic portrayal of Dutch WWII heroine Corrie Ten Boom at 7 p.m. July 12 and 10 a.m. July 13 at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive.

Buxamusa lived many years in the Netherlands, where she worked in evangelism, including delivering Bibles into Eastern Europe with “Open Doors.” During that time, she met Corrie Ten Boom, a leader in the Dutch resistance, who gained recognition for hiding Jewish people in her home.

During 1940-44, the Ten Boom family saved the lives of 880 Dutch Jews. In 1944, the family was betrayed by a Nazi collaborator and sent to a concentration camp. Corrie Ten Boom was the only member to survive the camps.

She was knighted by the queen of Holland, and honored by the state of Israel for her bravery.

The presentation’s theme is “The Greatest of These is Love.”

The Rev. Robert Quaintance will lead both services.

A free-will offering will be taken.

For information, call 330-782-8109.

A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be taken.
