AUSTINTOWN — A person overdosed on what is suspected to be heroin in the apartment Gina Burger disappeared from last week.

According to Vindicator sources, Jackie Bacher, Gina’s birth mother, overdosed and was revived using Narcan.

According to a police report, a concerned neighbor called police to report an unresponsive Bacher.

Authorities arrived at the apartment on the third floor of 987 Compass West apartments at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday.

Bacher was found on a couch going in and out of consciousness. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for care.

Police found spoons with burnt bottoms and suspected residue in the nightstand of a bedroom.

I don't understand the reasoning of putting the birth mother's sins on front street. I really don't care about what kind of life she lives. It just deflects from the heinous way Gina was murdered. In my opinion this gives whatever public defender representing this soul-less bastard a reason for killing Gina by putting her "out of her misery." Sad all the way around.

Government Section 8 housing residents have no code of conduct to live by, or face eviction if they don't. If they take our tax dollars, we the citizens should expect good behavior in return.

Quickest way to ruin a community - allow Section 8 housing. Another way government screws the people.

kleener,
In this situation, the birth mother's sins are highly relevant to this tragedy. Read the previous article about the troubled life this poor girl had to endure because of the mother's situation and it provides context to this story. Her birth mother failed her. When you bring another human into this world, you bear the responsibility of providing a stable, caring, nurturing environment for the child, not one where you smoke crack or shoot junk into your veins. There were many allegations of physical and sexual abuse against Bacher, especially from her husband. ANy chance that some of this happened while she was passed out in a drug coma or hyped up and couldn't control themselves? Children learn from example and they want to be pleasing to their parents, make them proud and do good things. Many people failed her. None of this distracts from the scum that killed her. It provides relevant background to this tragedy.

I guess I don't have a leg to stand on as I stand corrected. Thank you for a different perspective. Very sad indeed.

How much Narcan will be wasted on this woman?
She is being treated at St E's for an OD last night.
Your tax dollars hard at work. We pay her rent, give her a check every month so she can buy more s*+t.
Grieving is one thing. She won't ever change.
I have no sympathy for this junkie.

Compass West is nothing more than a whore house and drug den. White trash and degenerates from the southside are holed up over there. Low income, single unwed mothers, druggies, etc....the scum of the earth hibernate there. More than one family living in those apts. Poor Austintown inhereting all the low lifes from youngstown. Used to be a nice place to live but not anymore.

No Walter ( don't agree with you and others who are placing the blame on the mother or Gina's life circumstances. Her mother obviously has a drug addiction but as unfit she may have been, she is still dealing with the loss of a child. Possibly it wasn't an accidental overdose?

From my previous post:

As people try to make sense of why Gina was murdered focus on this fact: "His purpose was to kill someone that day; didn’t matter who it was. He just happened to come across this young girl,” said Ken Cardinal, an assistant county prosecutor" http://www.vindy.com/comments/post/?n...

There are people who out there who are pure evil. This girl's upbringing and past had NOTHING to do with the fact that she happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. This could have been you. I get the sense that people are trying to blame this young girl for her demise. You wouldn't think of blaming any of the school mass shooting victims or their families for what happened to them. Let this poor soul rest in peace.

I just can't feel sorry for this woman. Drugs is the life she chose and eventually it will kill her. The scum that killed the young girl deserves the death penalty. We should all say a prayer for the young girl.
