holy ground march Details

ACTION — (Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods) —; S.A.A.N.D.I., (South Avenue Area Neighborhood Development Initiative), a partnership of four block watches, the business community, schools and faith-based organizations; and NOW Youngstown, plan a Holy Ground March at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The event will precede a regularly scheduled Increase the Peace Rally from 6 to 8 p.m. at Taft Elementary School, 730 E. Avondale Ave., Youngstown.

March route: Participants will gather in the parking lot of the former Coconut Grove, 3229 South Ave., then walk north on South Avenue, east on Philadelphia then south on Gibson and conclude at Taft.

Rallies: For the third summer, outreach rallies in conjunction with the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence are planned. Coordinators are Pastor Rafael Cruz of Unity Baptist Church in Boardman and Pastors Rolando Rojas of Spanish Evangelical Church and Al Yanno of Metro Assembly of God, who share a commitment to street ministry.

At the rallies: The events feature music, testimonies, drama and mime, dance, carnival games, food and displays by various service providers.
