$93,680 in goods stolen from Southern Park Mall jewelry store
A total of $93,680 worth of jewelry was stolen Tuesday from Jewels & More, located in the Southern Park Mall at 7401 Market Street.
According to a police report, a man entered the store, selected a ball and chain gold necklace valued at $20,400, a gold cross with yellow diamonds valued at $18,000, a gold chain worth $12,480, a "Miami Cuban chain link necklace" worth $16,800 and a white gold bracelet with yellow and white diamonds valued at $26,000.
According to the report, the man then took out his wallet as if to pay for the merchandise, put the jewelry on and then fled from the store.
Two men who witnessed the suspect fleeing the building followed him and tackled him. According to the police report, "the suspect then broke free and continued running east bound with the merchandise."
Township police recovered the suspect's cell phone, which he dropped when he was tackled. They have yet to make an arrest for the theft.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150-170 pounds, with short hair and wearing a black t-shirt with a white design as of the time of the incident.
