Youngstown’s Frank tied for 4th at Ohio Open

Youngstown’s Garrett Frank shot a 4-under 66 on the south course to move into a tie for fourth at Monday’s first round of the Minute Ohio Open Championship at Westfield Country Club.

Andrew Bailey, an amateur from Rocky River, shot a 6-under 64 on the south course to take a three-stroke lead in the three-day event.

Stow’s Ian Holt and Cincinnati’s Kevin Hall are tied for second after both shot a 5-under 67 on the north course.

Frank is the only area golfer in the top 25 of the 268-player field.

Girard’s Boo Timko is tied for 40th after shooting an even-par 70 on the south course. Poland’s Trevor Jones, North Lima’s Brandon Pluchinsky and East Liverpool’s Blake Prince are all at 2-over after shooting 74s on the north course.

Players will alternate play between the north and south course for the first two days, with a 36-hole cut to the top 60 (and ties) after the second round.

Wednesday’s final round will be played on the south course.
