Poland village cops seek information on Walgreens robbery

POLAND

Poland Village Chief Russell Beatty said the police are still looking for tips on the armed robbery at a Walgreens on Wednesday.

Another robbery, believed to be related, occurred on Youngstown-Poland Road at a CVS.

In both incidents, a man brandished a gun and asked for drugs.

The McKinley Way Walgreens robbery occurred at about 6:10 p.m. Beatty said the man passed a note to the pharmacist asking for drugs and showed a two-tone semiautomatic gun.

The pharmacist complied and gave the man painkillers Oxycodone, OxyContin and Percocet.

Beatty said surveillance video shows the man walking through the store before the robbery.

It also showed him coming into the store in the morning. He purchased a Lipton iced tea at 10:24 a.m.

The man appears to be about 6 feet tall, in his 20s or 30s and wearing heavy winter clothing, including a partial mask to cover the bottom half of his face. He also had a black bag around him.

Less traffic stops, more police work in Poland village. I imagine if the robber drove 26 mph past the Walgreens he would have been pulled over. (The speed limit on 224 in that area is 25 mph).

No, if he had been driving 26 mph to leave the Walgreens after the theft, they would have picked up him and given him a speeding ticket.

Perhaps the village police could hide in all those fake 2nd story facades that Poland village zoning requires to meet the esoteric requirements of the village. A cop up there could easily pick off the robber in the parking lot. Bang!!!! Problem solved.

did any of the Barney Fife type police officers ever really shoot a gun. Detective work should be their
specialty……actually, they could not catch a criminal
in a telephone booth. When the chief's son caught me for speeding ( I think he was 12 at the time) he made a definite point to tell me I lived in the Township not the Village….well, excuse me!!!!
Is he the same kid that just got in trouble in Campbell. I think the victim was a 12 year old female.
