Senate Committee says Benghazi Attacks Preventable

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate Intelligence Committee released a report on the deadly assault on the diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, today, laying blame on the State Department, the intelligence community – even the late Ambassador Chris Stevens – for failing to communicate and heed warnings of terrorist activity in the area. The highly critical report also says the U.S. military was not positioned to aid the Americans in need, though the head of Africa Command had offered military security teams that Stevens – who was killed in the attack – had rejected weeks before the attack.

It may have been preventable but we didn't have the political fortitude.

Hillary ask "who would you trust if something happened at 3:00AM" --answer ---NONE of them!!! They all lied to cover their asses and then she wants to run for President. Obama should be impeached (not protecting the interests of the US) and Hillary and everyone involved in the cover up should go to jail.
They tried to put the blame on a film maker and made his name public so the terrorist could go after him!!!

Just like any incident, they all could have been prevented. Did they know all of the answers immediately after 9/11? No. Why didn't they impeach Bush? Shoot he attacked the wrong country in retaliation. It was nice of him to fly Bin Laden's family out of country though, especially since it was the only civilian plane allowed to be in the air. Even Stevens, one of the men killed, turned away extra security when it was recommended to him.

In this day and age it seems to be very important to place blame.

That only brings "feel good" relief in situations like the one in this story.

Unless, of course, you can sue or kill the perpetrators.

Almost all terrorist and/or military attacks could have been prevented if the powers that be had listened to the intelligence pointing to them. The real lesson we still haven't learned since Pearl Harbor is why we ignore those who point out an attack is imminent and favor those voices who argue everything is rosey and there's nothing to worry about.

@eivo, where were all the men who hijacked the planes from? Iraq? Nope! No conspiracy there.

@eivo, so you don't believe anything this administration says, but you believe everything that Bush and Cheney said? Good point Repub! Where is the credit that no terrorist attacks have occurred on US soil under Obama? You would think there would have been since everyone on the right thinks he is a Muslim. Oh yeah, I think he actually took action and had the real man behind 9/11 killed. Don't hear much credit given for that either!

The following is my assessment previously posted in this forum 5/10/2013. Nothing has changed...................

What is so difficult to understand?

Because they did not want to admit that Al Qaeda and other terrorist entities were running amok in Lybia, making the situation dangerous and out-of-control; for political reasons the Obama administration deliberately chose to NOT provide adequate military security.

Because they did not want to admit that Al Qaeda and other terrorist entities were running amok in Lybia, making the situation dangerous and out-of-control; for political reasons the Obama administration deliberately chose to NOT withdraw the ambassador and his staff, despite knowing that they were also not providing adequate security.

Because they did not want to admit that Al Qaeda and other terrorist entities were running amok in Lybia, making the situation dangerous and out-of-control; for political reasons the Obama administration deliberately chose to NOT send any security forces to rescue and extract the ambassador and his staff once the violence started on 9/11/2012.

Once they realized that their politically motivated actions had resulted in the deaths of 4 Americans, including the ambassador; for political reasons the Obama administration shifted into full spin and cover-up mode; where they remain until this day.

The truth is as evident as the nose on your face.
